The Evolution of The Blogger


In January 1994, Justin Hall, a Student at Swathmore University who created a online dairy or the first blog  - “Justin Links From the Underground” . A new era of Self-initiated documentation called blogging.The below infograph from the FlowTown helps us to understand how Blogger evolved from 1990s till today.

Now the blogs are not just textual content, but also focussed on art (Art blog), photographs (photoblog), videos (video blogging or vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). The next Generation of Bloggers are believed to be the Microblogging bloggers. These bloggers mostly seen on Twitter, have taken what old bloggers would say in 12,000 words and condensed down to 140 characters of emotion.

    Shame on me but I didn’t know who was the first blogger and how it all started. Thanks for this info. For me it was really interesting and worth mentioning to my friends.

    I sometimes wonder what is a typical image of a present day blogger. And come to a conclusion – no definite picture: as many bloggers as many types. Young and old, educated and still students, working and unemployed, men and women, etc.
