it was a good idea, but I think that there is even better idea. Host an articles competition with a cash prize. The main condition is that the artcle must be unique, interesting and published on the blog.
The winner would have a few hundterds of USD, you would have tons of unique articles, google would have soemthing to eat as well. And everyone would be happy, even spammers.

It is not too late. But this idea works well only on blog where conversation is more and information is less. Find it out whether you are in right niche
