Adam Tablet PC from Notion Ink– First Tablet PC from India


India is considered as a software superpower but hasn’t really made waves in IT hardware so far. However that could soon change,  with Adam tablet PC of Hyderabad-based Notion Ink. Adam has generated enormous buzz on tech websites and gadget blogs ever since an early prototype was first demonstrated at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the world’s largest consumer tech trade show.

The worldwide launch started on December 18, 2010. On the day of launch Notion Ink released a video detailing the Eden Interface of the Adam Tablet. Adam runs Android 2.2 (with some libraries from Android 2.3, ported to 2.2). Overall it’s a great Tablet to watch.

Specification of Notion Ink Tablet PC – Adam


Notion Ink’s Adam weighs 600-650 gm with the height of 158 mm, width of 239 mm and depth of 13 mm. Nevertheless, the Adam has NVIDIA Tegra 2 with Dual Core Cortex A-9 and ULP GPU. If you talk about inputs, Adam Tablet PC has a USB port, HDMI, SIM card slot, MicroSD slot, docking port and a DC connector. It has even a 3.2 MP Swivel camera. Go out and click, click and click.

For the music Adam Tablet PC has 2 loudspeakers, a microphone jack, a built in microphone and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Notion Ink’s Adam has a 3 cell standard battery with a universal charger. It has a backside trackpad with an on board keyboard. For communication it has WLAN, WWAN and a GSM (TBD). Adam Tablet PC comes in 16 GB and 32 GB and has touch panel with multi-touch, fingerprint resistant and scratch resistant surface with matt finish or anti glare coat.

Adam Tablet PC has a 10.1 inch TFT liquid crystal display (LCD) module with LED backlight thing and has a WSVGA resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. And if you still crave for more, then it has a 3 axis accelerometer, a GPS and ambient light sensing. The stuff is definitely enough to put your mind in the entertainment mode.

The battery life is quite awesome as Notion Ink’s Adam allows you 140 hours of audio playback and not only this but 14 hours of HD video playback. The Adam Tablet PC processors are very efficient and optimized to provide the best work experience. This tablet plays full HD videos (1080 p). It even has an A2DP Bluetooth.

      No. I will get it soon. This is a new startup from India so it will take them some time to comeup with Honeycomb based tablet.

    I’m looking to buy a netbook. Do you think adam tablet PC will be enough for all my blogging needs(if we use mostly web tools) or should I go for a regular netbook running linux or windows?
    What blogging tools we may miss in adam?
