7 Good Things about Android Operating System

With the growing success of Android phones and tablet PCs, Apple is facing a tough time to keep up their name. They are not going to lose their reputation, but they find it hard that Android is taking away some of their market, which is why may be that Android has been aptly called “iPhone killer”.

Initially in 2008 Android seemed not to be hitting the market and causing much harm to the iPhone market, but with time and research increasing Android soon started climbing the ladder of the sales market much easily to the top position, more or less on par with the iPhone. Some of the answers to the question “Why?” are as follows:

1. Android can run  multiple apps at the same time:

Right from the beginning, multitasking in the Android phones has been not much of a problem, as the users found this application much useful in keeping the applications open and be accessible simultaneously. For example, this will include email notifications, listening to music and recording GPS data. While with apple this has not been possible until the venture of iPhone 4, and that too was incomparable to Android phones.

2. Android keeps the information visible on the home screen:

If you are using iPhone, you need to launch each application by flipping through their app list and launching them everytime. In contrast, Android has a customizable home screen, which keeps the widgets active at the tip of your fingers, always accessible without taking pains of launching the application. Some of the common such applications will include weather forecast, Facebook, notepad, and much more.

3. Android has a better app market:

Currently Android Market has more than 200,000 applications. Android market is more open in accepting third party applications and also they do not censor the applications and is entirely driven by their customers. Unlikely, apple decides which applications reaches the customers, and therefore little room for the customers to decide on which application that works and suits them very well.

4. Android allows you to choose the hardware:

Unlike iPhone, Android phones allow you to choose between a range of hardware other than what iPhone can offer a 16 GB or a pricier 32 GB. You have a range of phones from a  number of companies like Samsung, HTC and Motorola, all coming with a number of phones that has their own hardwares, which will fit both your economical budget, of a pricier one, all feeding your personal and corporate needs.

5. Android lets you choose your mobile service provider:

While iPhone is a single company that comes with AT& T and Verizon, only, Android has a number of line ups, and each phone comes with the differing mobile service providers that the manufacturers chooses to juggle. Thus, they allow you to choose, for example, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon in the United States and so is the case in Canada and other European and Asian regions.

6. Android permits custom install ROMs:

With the increasing power of the smartphones like Wi-Fi, GPS, 4G, Bluetooth and much more, this is necessary that you keep an eye on the battery life, which as expected has taken a toll of the phone’s battery life. iPhone users are stuck in changing or toggling between the settings for Wi-fi or Bluetooth or 3G networks, this has not been a issue with Android phones, that they allow you to  manage your settings directly from the home page, while you can create shortcuts for the lesser used applications.

7. Android gives more options to fit your budget:

There are only limited models of iPhones with the option of high price tags, and if at all the mobile retailers offer some promotional offers, then you will find three or more price tags. But this is not the case with Android phones as you will get a range of budget and economical smartphones to cutting edge smartphones that are priced higher, than even the iPhones.
