A story was published in the news paper recently. On a social networking site, a computer engineer had developed friendship with an unknown person. The unknown friend started visiting engineer’s house. Once, while the engineer was away from the hose, a theft was committed in his house in his absence. The mistake committed by the engineer was that he always shared his location updates with his friends and all his location updates were pouring in on to his unknown friend. In case of Twitter, location based information are not added to Twitter messages by default. A user needs to enable this option in the Twitter settings. Users who have enabled the option may, at some point, want to delete location information from their account to prevent tracking and an invasion of their privacy.
