Toshiba has teased its upcoming 10-inch android tablet for months and today the company finally divulged the details. The formally unnamed tablet is now being called the Thrive and is going to ship in three configurations in July.

Specs and Features of Toshiba Thrive
The Toshiba Thrive features the same 10.1-inch screen size that’s so popular among Android tablets and has a 1ghz invidia tegra 2 processor under the hood. It features a 2-megapixel camera on the front and a 5-megapixel camera on the back both capable of 720p video capture. As for the operating system, the Thrive will ship with the latest update to Google’s tablet OS 3.1 Honeycomb. The Thrive has every thing you’d expect from an Android tablet of this caliber including B/G/N Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, an accelerometer and a gyroscope, which will be great for gaming. Weighing in at 1.6 pounds it’s one of the heaviest tablets on the market but that’s made up for by being the only modern table with a user replaceable battery and an expansive number of ports.
Ports, Price and Options
What makes the Thrive stand out form the rest of the Android tablet pack is it’s replaceable battery, extensive port options and customization. Where most Android tablets feature a micro SD card and a micro USB port the Thrive features a proprietary dock connector, a full size USB port, a full size HDMI port and both a micro and full size SD care slot. The Thrive is being sold in 3 Wifi only configurations with price varying by capacity. The 8GB configuration will cost $420, the 16gb 479 and the 32GB for $579.
Another unique feature is its host of pack panel color options such as pink, red, blue and yellow just to name a few. Though a little on the heavy side, the Thrive seems poised to be quite the competitor in the increasingly crowded Android tablet space. It’ll be interesting to see how this performs against the Galaxy Tab also being released around that time.
