Get Your Desktop Organized With Fences

Most of us have a lot of shortcuts and files in our desktop because it is easily accessible.  So you end up putting everything you think you need on there, and later things become very messy with too many icons and files. Fences is a free windows software that addresses this issue.

Fences lets you organize Windows desktop items into different categories. Once installed, Fences will run through a couple of first-time beginner screens asking if you’d like to use one of the built-in layouts, and will attempt to auto-detect which icons should be placed inside each fence.

You can modify any of the fences by simply moving or resizing them around the screen, and then use the Lock item on the desktop context menu to fix them into place when you are done. You can also label them according to your needs. For example, I have four fences – program shortcuts, photos, games and documents.

It also allows you to take snapshot of your desktop layouts and restore a previous layout at any time.
