The download contains 16 different modifications on the font (italics, bolds, and the like) as well as a “specimen book” that contains plenty of examples of the font in use. There’s a little note along with the font that says they’re designed for developers to use in their apps
Roboto is a grotesque sans serif and the font family includes regular and oblique styles of Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Black, and Condensed widths. It was created from the ground up with UI and high-resolution screens in mind, and it shows. It scales extremely well and easily adapts to different screen resolutions, which is a plus, considering the wide array of Android phones and tablets.
You can now use Roboto either with various Microsoft Office programs and graphic design tools like Photoshop or if you have an older Android phone, you can grab an app like Font Changer and set Robot as your default font without upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich.
