Gmail provides various themes to personalize your inboxes. Now you will be able to add even more of a personal touch to Gmail, as Google now allows you to set your own background images in Gmail by uploading it directly or by choosing it from your Google+ photo.

Add Your Own Images as Background in Gmail
To add your favourite images or wallpapers as background in Gmail, first click on gear icon on the right and from the menu select Themes. Custom themes are available in two options, Light and Dark.
You can upload your own images from the computer, select one from your Google+ photos or simply paste any image URL. If you don’t have a particular image in mind, Google provides a rich, searchable gallery of photos to choose from.
