Google Chromebooks go on sale in India starting at Rs 22999

After two years of launching Chromebooks in US, finally Google Chromebooks are available in Indian Market. Chromebooks are the light and portable laptops by Google who runs on the Google’s Chrome OS instead of Microsoft Windows.

Google said that initially HP and Acer would start selling their Chromebooks in the Indian market but in future more manufacturers like Samsung and Asus might join the fray.

The Company said that from October 17, consumers would be able to but Acer C720 and HP Chromebook 14. The Acer C720 is priced at Rs. 22,999 while the HP Chromebook 14 would cost Rs. 26,990.

The main difference between Chromebooks and Windows based laptops is functionality. Chromebooks are not able to run programs which are available for Windows computers. Chromebook performs on Google’s Chrome OS which is more suitable light and web based tasks and it works best when the device is connected to the Internet. Chromebooks works differently, if compared to Windows based laptops. Currently, Google has added more offline functionality to OS, which comes along with the recent updates.

Chromebooks are suitable for people who wants fast boot performance, portability and good battery life. If compared to Windows laptops, Chromebooks claims to have better screen, more spacious touch pads and more appealing design. Chromebooks helps you to do tasks faster and easier and the Chrome OS comes with the multiple layer of security, cloud storage and most popular Google products built in .

The Acer C720 Chromebooks has an 11.6-inch screen with 1366*768 display resolution. It is powered by 4th Generation  Intel Celeron 2955U processor based on Haswell architecture and weighs 1.25 kg. It comes with 2 GB of Ram ( expandable to 8 GB ), and 16 GB SSD for storage ( Faster than HDD ). The laptop is claiming to offer a battery life of over 8.5 hours.

On the other hand, Chromebook 14 is also powered by 4th Generation Intel Celeron 2955U. It has a 14-inch screen and weighs 1.85 kg. It also comes with 16 GB of SSD and 4 GB of Ram ( which is expandable to 8 GB ). Chromebook 14 claims a battery life of 9.5 hours.

Google said that Chromebook buyers will get 100 GB free storage on Drive, the company’s cloud storage service for two years.

If you’re always surfing the web and sticks with Google’s products,  Chromebooks are for you. Because they have all traditional Google’a apps such as Gmail, YouTube and Google+ built in . They also comes with Google Docs and offline Gmail, which will be suitable for you, if your Internet starts breaking down.

Google has also partnered with Tikona and Airtel to provide cellular and broadband offers.

The Acer C720 Chromebook is pricedRs. 22,999 and The HP Chromebook 14 is priced Rs. 26,990. They will be from selected Reliance Digital And Croma stores in Delhi and Mumbai starting today. You can even place order for the device from Flipkart.
